Fishing - Upper Trinity River
Trinity Lake  |  Upper Trinity River  |  Lower Trinity River  |  Lewiston  |  The Alps   |  Carrville Pond  |  Other Area Water

The upper Trinity river flows straight through the ranch property, allowing for walk-up fishing on private water for Ranch guests.

Best times of the year to fish the Upper Trinity River

Springtime

Trout season on the upper Trinity opens in late April. This is a time of high, fast water. These fish are best taken on spinners, and by dead drifting weighted nymphs.

Summer
The high flows recede by mid-July most years. Trout can then be caught using small nymphs, dries, and wet flies dead drifted in the current. Bait is also popular.

Autumn
The trout will take dries, small nymphs and wet flies fished carefully on light lines and long leaders. They will also take bait. The season closes in early October.

Winter
The upper Trinity is not open to fishing during the winter months.

Distance from Eagle Creek Ranch
The Upper Trinity River flows right through Eagle Creek Ranch. Put on your waders, and walk to the water!
Highlight Species:
Rainbow and Brown Trout from 6" to 6 lbs.
Wild rainbows and browns travel upstream from the lake during the spring. Trout are stocked during the summer, and well into the fall.

Kokanee Salmon
In some years, kokanee might be seen migrating sporadically in the fall to spawn. These fish are severely stunted due to overcrowding in the lake.
